Frequently Asked Questions
Two audiences ask us very different things. Developers want to know if they qualify and what it costs. Funders want to know who we are and how money is handled. Both sets of answers are below.

For Developers
- Am I eligible?
- If you are a developer or knowledge worker whose work has been displaced, devalued, or made precarious by AI, you are eligible to join. That includes people already laid off, people still employed but watching their role shrink, and early-career developers who are finding the entry-level rung has disappeared. There is no degree requirement and no minimum years of experience.
- Do I have to be in India?
- No. EDF is headquartered in India and our events calendar currently covers cities across India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the UAE, Egypt, and Vietnam. The platform, AI career guidance, and online programmes are open to anyone, anywhere.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. Programmes are free to participants. That is the entire point of the foundation — people in the middle of a income shock should not be asked to pay for the way out of it.
- Can I see programme details without signing up?
- Yes. Programme descriptions, eligibility, and what each programme involves are public — read them on What We Do. You only need an account for the tools: AI resume review, career guidance, enrolment, and event registration.
- When does the first cohort start?
- It has not started yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Programmes are designed and the platform is live; we are assembling the first cohort now. Sign up and you will hear when intake opens.
- What happens to my resume if I upload it?
- It is stored on our server and its contents are sent to our AI provider to generate the review. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly how it is stored, including a current limitation we are being upfront about. You can use the rest of the platform without uploading anything.
- Is the AI career guidance actually any good?
- It is a useful starting point and it is not a career counsellor. It can be wrong or generic. Treat its output as a first draft to react to, and bring anything important to a human — including us.

For Funders & Partners
- Is EDF a registered nonprofit?
- Not yet. Registration is in progress. Until it completes there is no registered entity, we are not accepting public donations, and contributions cannot be treated as tax-deductible anywhere. We publish this rather than leaving it ambiguous.
- So what can I actually do right now?
- Partnership conversations, cohort sponsorship commitments, in-kind support such as compute credits or mentor time, and introductions are all genuinely useful today. Money is better committed now and transferred once registration completes and fund governance is published.
- How will funds be governed?
- The governance policy will be published alongside the registration details, before any funds are accepted. Our stated commitments are a 5% overhead cap, published annual audited statements, and quarterly reporting on programme outcomes. We are also seating an advisory board specifically to hold the foundation to those commitments.
- What has EDF actually achieved so far?
- A live member platform, six programmes designed end to end, an events calendar across seven countries, and two active partnerships. No cohort has completed, no grants have been disbursed, and no placements have been made. Our status report lists both sides of that ledger in full.
- What does a given amount buy?
- Our funding plan budgets roughly $2,500 to carry one developer through a 16-week reskilling cohort, $500–$5,000 for an individual micro-grant, and about $10,000 to support one founder through incubation. These are budgeted unit costs from our plan, not averages from programmes already run.
- Who is behind this?
- The founders, named with their affiliations and contact route on our Who We Are page. There is no anonymous board and no undisclosed backer.
- How do I know the numbers on this site are real?
- Where we state a target, we label it a target. Where we state something we have done, you should be able to check it. If you find something on this site you think is overstated, email us and we will correct it — that offer is genuine and it applies to this page too.
